Playgroups & Organizations

This page contains information on organizations and public playgroups that meet regularly.
Book Club - The Tompkins County Public Library hosts a mother-daughter book club for kids ages 8-12 throughout the year.

Jillians Drawers - several play groups and parent support groups meet in the community room, including a dads/fathers group ( ithacadadsgroup@gmail.com)  and a parents of twins group.
 
Mama's Comfort Camp is a refueling station for moms of kids of any age.They use a facebook group where hundreds of mothers from around the world get to share their ups and downs and support each other deeply in a judgement-free safe space: what the members post can only be seen inside the group, not anywhere else on facebook. Locally Mama's Comfort Camp hosts a monthly support meeting for moms on the first thursday of the month at 12:30pm in Downtown Ithaca, as well as various play-dates, mama's nights out, classes and outings.

MOPS Ithaca -MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and is an international Christian based support group that exists to encourage, equip, and help women become the best moms that they can be. Women who are pregnant or have young children (birth through kindergarten) are all invited to join MOPS.
 
   Candor MOPS - Summer play dates Thursdays from 10-noon at the Candor Elementary School play ground on Academy Street in Candor. Those who desire to do so can bring a packed   
   lunch. First meeting is Sept 20th and then we will meet the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 when school is in session following the Candor School Calendar. We'll meet at the Candor

    Dryden MOPS - Drydon MOPS meet at the Methodist Church in Dryden the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 9-11.

 
MOMS club of Ithaca - A support group for stay-at-home mother (including moms who work part-time and those who work from home).  They do a variety of activities for moms and their children.
 
The Lantern School The Lantern School is a cooperative educational opportunity for homeschooled children aged 5 to 8 years at the beginning of the 2013-14 school year. We will offer a two- and three-day option, from 9am to 3pm.
 
Northern Light Learning Center, a cooperative homeschool learning center located in downtown Ithaca, is accepting member families with children five and older. We’re a group of about 60 homeschooling families that work together to offer a regular schedule of classes and events for all ages of children, along with social clubs, gatherings and community events. Past classes have included everything from Beginning Spanish to Mandarin Chinese, Social Justice Films to Plant and Animal Biology, Anime Club to Algebra, and that’s just a sampling. Primitive Pursuits - Primitive Pursuits has outdoor recreation programs for kids of various ages, including their new Forest Preschool and free outdoor preschool playgroup at 4-H acres.

 TAFFI - Transracial Adoptive and Foster Families of Ithaca. Peer support group of Ithaca-area families with adopted or foster children of any age whose race is different from the adoptive parent(s). We currently have kids aged newborn to teens. Adult transracially adopted individuals are welcome too. Visit them at sites.google.com/site/taffiplaygroup
 
Twins Group - play/support group in the community room at Jillian's Drawers for parents or soon-to-be-parents of twins. Come connect with other parents.
